Defense Shotgun Course Description:
This course is designed to provide the responsibly armed citizens with the skills and repetition to best utilize their shotgun for defensive purposes.
We address some of the myths, misconceptions, and the lore surrounding a shotguns capability. We demonstrate what a shotgun is actually capable of and have you actively participate in finding out what your shotgun with what type of ammunition is truly capable of doing.
Price is $250 (includes range fees)
Material Covered:
- How to best set your shotgun up for success
- In-depth discussion on what is the best shotgun type, gauge, shot selection, i.e.: bird shot, 4 buck, 00 buck, slugs, other
- You will get to experiment with your shotgun on an actual house wall. (You can’t try that at home) You will be able pattern your shotgun by shooting at targets at various distances to determine maximum point-blank range for you and your ammunition selection.
- Fundamental manipulations and marksmanship
- Sling and method to attach (2 point preferably), sling fundamentals
- Emergency and tactical reloading, different and unorthodox shooting positions including proper use of cover
- Method to carry additional ammunition; bandolier, pouch, caddy, etc
- Eye & Ear protection
Necessary Equipment:
- Any properly functioning shotgun. 20 gauge and 12 gauge are the most common. Other gauges, sizes can be used as well
Equipment/firearms can be provided free of charge (Excluding ammunition)
- 100* rounds of bird shot
- 5* rounds of slugs
- 15-20* rounds of buckshot. If you can bring an assortment of loads and brands the better. It’s about you learning what works best. aka: D.O.P.E. data on previous engagement
- Weather appropriate clothing as well as sunscreen
- Note pad and pen
- Plenty of water and lunch
- GOOD attitude
